It scans for infected files/ malware and disinfects Windows-based platforms. You can install this software on your infected system (even in Safe Mode) for on-time use. 

  1. First of all, ensure that your system meets the specified System Requirements.
  2. Now, go to the Kaspersky Lab Product official website and locate “Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool”. Thereafter, Download it. 
  3. Then, close down all running applications on your system.
  4. Next, you should locate and open the downloaded “Setup” File.
  5. Thereafter, review the “End User License Agreement And Privacy Policy”. 
  6. Then, scroll down to the very bottom of this window. Now, select the checkbox beside “I confirm that I have fully read, understand, and accept the terms and conditions of the End User License Agreement”. Additionally, tick mark the box for “I confirm that I have fully read, understood, and accept the terms and conditions of the Privacy policy describing the handling of data”.
  7. Finally, click on “Accept”.
  8. Then, wait for the installation process to complete. Once, the process finishes, it will notify you the same. 
  9. After this, proceed for scanning your device. 
  10. On the “Ready To Scan” window, click on the “Start Scan” button.
  11. Now, wait for the process to finish.
  12. In case, if it detects any threat, it will notify you the same. Along with that, it will prompt you to perform the required actions to resolve the issue. As such, follow the instructions to disinfect your computer.
  13. Finally, click on “Close” at the bottom right-hand corner of this window to exit the tool.
  14. At last, restart your computer.

TDSSKiller Utility

TDSSKiller Tool is a specialized utility software designed by Kaspersky Lab to detect and eliminate “Rootkits”. It removes malware from the TDSS Rootkit family along with other “Bootkits” and “Rootkits”. 

  1. First of all, go to the Support page of Kaspersky’s official website and locate “Kaspersky TDSSKiller Tool”. Thereafter, Download it. 
  2. Then, close down all running applications on your system.
  3. Now, you should locate and open the downloaded “Setup” File.
  4. Next, you should click on “Run” when prompted.
  5. Thereafter, review the “Kaspersky Lab Product End User License Agreement”. Then, click on “Accept” to continue.
  6. After that, closely read the “Kaspersky Security Network Statement”. Then, click on “Accept” if you agree to the terms.
  7. As a result, it will start the installation process. Hence, wait for it to complete properly.  
  8. Finally, click on “Start Scan” to initiate the scanning process.
  9. Now, wait for the tool to scan and disinfect your system.
  10. At last, click “Close” to exit.

Kaspersky Rescue Disk Tool

It is yet another free of cost tool that disinfects your OS. It uses a free bootable CD/ Flash Drive to detect and eliminate threats interfering the work of OS. 

  1. First of all, go to the Support page of Kaspersky’s official website and locate “Kaspersky TDSSKiller Tool”. Thereafter, Download it. 
  2. Now, you should write Kaspersky Rescue Disk to a CD/DVD or a USB drive. You can use applications like ImgBurn to burn the “ISO image file” to a CD?DVD. Else, if you want to use a Flash Drive. Then, you should follow the below-mentioned process.
    • Search for Rufus on your browser and download a portable version.
    • Now, plug in an empty USB Flash Drive to your computer.
    • Double-click on Rufus.
    • Click “Yes” on “User Account Control” window.
    • Click on “Select” and locate the ISO Image File by the name KRD. Then, click on “Open”.
    • Then, click on “Start” and wait for the process.
    • Click “OK” when prompted.
    • Once the process finishes, click on “Close” to exit Rufus.
  3. Now, restart your PC and Boot from the USB Drive or CD/DVD.
    • Click on “Restart” from the Start menu.
    • Then, select the Boot Device i.e. choose USB.
    • Subsequently, press “Esc” key followed by the “Enter” key.
    • Now, select “Language” and press “Enter”.
    • Select “Kaspersky Rescue Disk. Graphic Mode” and press “Enter”.
    • Wait for the Subsystem to load.
    • Click “OK” when prompted.
    • Then, closely read the “End User License Agreement And Privacy policy”. Now, tick mark both the boxes beneath it to accept the Terms.  Thereafter, click on “Accept”.
    • Wait for the Initialization process to complete.
  4. Finally, click on “Start Scan” on the Ready To Scan window.
  5. As a result, it will scan your system to detect threats.
  6. After that, it will alert you if threats are detected. At the same time, it will guide you through actions to clean your OS.
